Thank you Lincoln County!!
The Boys & Girls Club of America took root
nearly 150 years ago with three women in Hartford, Conn deciding to take in a few children
in need. Well that idea sprouted into what is now a network of over 4,000 Clubs across the
nation and across the world.
We had similar beginnings for our Lincoln County
Boys & Girls Club. We started locally by determining the need... a positive place for
our older youth and teens to go after school, evenings, and weekends - a place where kids
can mix education with fun, and a place where they can develop skills and self-esteem.
We listened to what the needs were and opened Kids' Cafe,
giving our youth a nutritious meal each evening (at no cost). To ensure safe transport to
the Club, we started bussing middle and high school students. We have offerings such as
leadership groups, courses teaching
personal finance, cooking classes, as well as a new Junior Staff program. These
opportunities come without additional cost for members and any child in grades 5-12 can
belong.
In celebration of national Boys & Girls Club
week, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank our community for its wonderful, ongoing
support. It's your personal involvement - as a parent, a volunteer, a staff
member, a committee or board member, or a donor - that enables us to positively affect
these young lives.
Thank you for making it possible.
